PCU RN Job Details – Salem, Oregon
- Location: Salem, Oregon (97301) – Explore Oregon nursing jobs in a city known for its lush greenery, historic sites, and access to the Willamette Valley.
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1700-$1820
- Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract, 13 weeks
- Start Date: January 5, 2026 (or later)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00 – 07:30), 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week)
- Unit: Float Pool (PCU/IMC/MS/Stepdown)
- Patient Ratios: 1:4-6
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Free parking on site
- Charting: Epic EMR
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Oregon RN license not required at submission; pending accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience (within the last 3 years) in Med-Surg, Telemetry, or Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Previous travel nursing experience required (no first-time travelers)
- BLS certification (AHA required)
- Epic charting experience required
- ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
- Ability to float within scope to meet facility needs, including to West Valley Hospital (15 minutes away)
- Clinical skills in telemetry, cardiac rhythm interpretation, dysrhythmia management, O2 protocol, non-invasive airway management, peripheral line care, and cardiac drips (nitro, Cardizem, amiodarone)
- Weekend availability (every other weekend required)
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in PCU, Med-Surg, IMC, and Stepdown units
- Float as needed to support all adult inpatient units, including Emergency Department, ICU, and affiliate hospital (West Valley Hospital)
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, manage telemetry, and respond to rapid response/code situations
- Administer and manage cardiac drips, oxygen therapy, and non-invasive airway management
- Perform peripheral line care, isolation precautions, and maintain accurate computerized documentation using Epic EMR
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services
- Support patients with a variety of diagnoses, including cardiac, neuro, post-MI, post-TPA, and substance withdrawal
- Participate in orientation and complete required modules pre-start and annually
