- Location: Indianapolis, IN 46202 (Indiana healthcare jobs)
- Unit: Advanced Heart Care Unit (A5East), Progressive Care Unit
- Contract Type: Travel Registered Nurse
- Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 01/05/2026 – End: 04/06/2026)
- Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 – 19:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Staffing Ratio: 1:4
- Weekend Coverage: Must be flexible; required to work at least 50% of weekends per contract
- First Time Travel Nurses: Accepted
- Orientation: 36 hours
PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit nursing experience
- Trauma Level I hospital experience required
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Indiana or compact state)
- BCLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Proficient in cardiac telemetry, central line care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-cardiac procedures, sheath removal, IV starts, and titrating cardiac drips
- Ability to float to Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU units as needed
- Willingness to precept and/or be shadowed by nursing students
- Local candidates not accepted for this travel nursing position
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients with cardiovascular conditions such as CHF, post-MI, pulmonary hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, COPD, congenital heart defects, and infective endocarditis
- Monitor and care for patients post-cath lab procedures, pre/post cardiac surgery, and prior to LVAD or heart/lung transplant
- Initiate and manage cardiac drips, perform sheath pulls, and start/maintain IVs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, PT, RT, radiology, pharmacy, and social services
- Float to other hospital units as required, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
- Participate in teaching and mentoring activities within a leading teaching hospital
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold patient safety standards
