PCU Travel Nurse Job Details
- Location: Richmond, VA (23219) – Virginia healthcare jobs
- Facility: Level 1 Trauma Center, Main 8 West Medical Surgical Care Unit
- Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 1/5/2026 – End: 4/6/2026)
- Shifts: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Day: 7:00am–7:00pm / Night: 7:00pm–7:00am), 3 shifts per week
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit Size: 28 beds, including 8 progressive care beds
- Weekend Coverage: Required
- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2020 - $2070
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Level 1 Trauma RN experience
- Active RN license in Virginia or compact state (must be in hand at time of submission)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) certifications required
- EPIC charting experience required
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) preferred
- Ability to float within specialty as needed
- Two professional nursing references required
- Compliance with facility policies, including natural nail policy and fingerprinting for ER/Psych candidates
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality clinical care to adult and geriatric patients with acute gastrointestinal, cardiac, renal, hepatic, endocrine, sickle cell, hematological, respiratory, and gynecological disorders
- Monitor and manage patients using bedside and remote telemetry
- Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including physicians, case managers, pharmacy, PT/OT, respiratory therapists, and social workers
- Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records
- Participate in orientation and complete required modules during the first week
- Float within scope to support unit and hospital needs
