NICU Registered Nurse Job Details
- Location: Columbus, Ohio (43205) – Ohio nursing jobs
- Facility: Level IV NICU, Neonatal Float Pool
- Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: January 5, 2026
- End Date: April 6, 2026
- Shift: Day shifts, 3x12-hour (07:00 - 19:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Orientation: 8 hours
- Openings: 1 NICU RN position
- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2130 - $2190
NICU RN Qualifications
- Active Ohio or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 2 years of Level III/IV NICU nursing experience (including at least 1 year in a Level IV NICU)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required; PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health record (EHR) system
- Experience with tracheostomy care and strong family engagement
- Ability to float to PICU, CV PICU, stepdown, Med/Surg, and other hospital campuses as needed
- Two professional references required (one must be a manager or supervisor)
- Travel nurses only – candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius of Columbus, Ohio
- Cannot have been a permanent employee at Nationwide Children's Hospital within the last 2 years
NICU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to neonates, infants, and pediatric patients in a Level IV NICU setting
- Float to critical care units including PICU, CV PICU, stepdown, and Med/Surg as required
- Perform advanced procedures: tracheostomy care, central line and arterial line management, ventilator management
- Support breastfeeding and manage breast milk handling
- Administer medications, blood products, and manage IV therapy
- Assist with high-risk deliveries and care for complex diagnoses (BPD, NEC, respiratory distress syndrome)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and maintain accurate documentation in Epic
- Provide family education, support, and engagement throughout the patient’s hospital stay
