Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Pikeville, Kentucky (41501) – Kentucky nursing jobs
• Assignment Type: Travel Emergency Room Nurse
• Unit: Emergency Room (ER)
• Start Date: January 5, 2026
• End Date: March 7, 2026
• Duration: 13-week travel nurse contract
• Shift: 1:00 PM – 1:00 AM (12-hour nights)
• Hours per Week: 48 (guaranteed)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1650 - $1770 per week

ER Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Kentucky or compact state
• Associate’s degree in nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room RN experience (5 years preferred)
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, EKG
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to excel in high-pressure, fast-paced healthcare settings

ER Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care to infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in emergent and non-emergent situations
• Perform comprehensive head-to-toe assessments and ongoing patient re-assessments
• Manage airway, pain, cardiac, and invasive monitoring for emergency patients
• Administer IV drips, medication titration, sedation, and specialized medications
• Assist with emergency procedures (temporary pacemakers, cardioversion, defibrillation, chest tubes, wound repair)
• Operate specialized emergency room equipment and technology
• Lead and respond to Code Blue and critical care situations
• Interpret ECG/EKG strips and provide infusion therapy
• Educate patients and families on discharge instructions and follow-up care
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation and ensure patient confidentiality
• Supervise, mentor, and precept new healthcare staff and nurses
• Participate in performance improvement and ongoing professional development activities
• Ensure proper functioning and stocking of emergency room equipment and supplies
• Adhere to infection control, safety, and hospital personnel guidelines
