Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details
- Location: Albuquerque, NM 87102 (New Mexico nursing jobs)
- Assignment Type: Travel healthcare contract
- Start Date: January 5, 2026
- End Date: April 6, 2026
- Duration: 13-week contract
- Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts (18:30 – 07:00)
- Hours per Week: 36 (option for 48 hours available)
- Unit: Medical Intermediate Care Unit (IMC), 9th Floor
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Unit Size: 12 beds
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1730 - $1780
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of recent Cardiac Stepdown, IMC, or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience (2 years preferred)
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Active New Mexico or Compact RN license (required at time of submission)
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (CPI preferred)
- Epic charting experience required
- Ability to float to all PCU units, Med Surg, and ICU for PCU assignments
- Weekend and holiday availability (minimum 6 weekend shifts per contract)
- Experience with adult and geriatric patient populations
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with cardiac, neuro, and complex medical diagnoses in an IMC setting
- Manage a 1:4 patient ratio, caring for conditions such as GI bleeds, pneumonia, sepsis, respiratory diseases, and stroke/neuro cases
- Administer blood products, manage cardiac drips (no titration), and provide central/peripheral line care
- Perform wound care, telemetry monitoring, and tracheostomy management
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Float to similar clinical units as needed based on facility requirements
- Participate in orientation (2 bedside shifts plus hospital orientation) and complete required onsite modules
