PCU RN Job Details – Overland Park, Kansas

• Location: Overland Park, KS 66213 (Kansas City metro area)
• Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Contract
• Start Date: January 5, 2026
• End Date: April 6, 2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45 – 07:15)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1920 - $1970
• Patient Ratio: 1:5
• Float Pool: Float between 5+ Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU units and metro campuses as needed
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum 8 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
• Orientation: 12 hours plus required training modules
• Special Equipment: Virtual Nurses, 12 lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, Omnicell
• Guaranteed Hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks (cancelled shifts must be regular shift length)
• Flu Vaccine: Required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)

PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license: Compact RN or both Kansas & Missouri RN licenses required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU, stepdown, or related specialty experience (at least 1 year in-specialty within past 12 months, no employment gap over 90 days)
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS certification preferred
• Experience with Epic EMR charting system preferred
• Ability to float between multiple hospital units and campuses
• References: 2 required (one supervisor or above, one charge RN) from the past year
• Must reside at least 75 miles from facility (local candidates not accepted)
• Ability to complete compliance modules and training prior to start (10-15 hours of modules due 1 week prior to start)
• Drug screening and lab completion required prior to start
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Maximum 7 days of requested time off

PCU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a PCU/stepdown environment
• Float between multiple Med/Surg Intermediate and PCU units, as well as other metro campuses, to support patient care needs
• Monitor, interpret, and manage cardiac rhythms; respond to medical emergencies
• Care for patients with complex diagnoses including sepsis, stroke, renal failure, AFIB, GIB, wound care, COVID-19, and more
• Perform specialized procedures: central line care, feeding tube management, blood product administration, sheath removal
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, pharmacy, rapid response, radiology, etc.)
• Document patient care using Epic EMR and complete required training modules
• Participate in holiday and charge RN assignments as needed
• Maintain compliance with facility policies, including drug screening and vaccination requirements
