Travel RN Job Details
- Location: Roanoke, VA 24014 (Virginia nursing jobs)
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse Contract
- Unit: RMH 9 West Med Surg (Medical/Surgical/Ortho)
- Start Date: December 29, 2025
- End Date: March 30, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks (extensions up to 52 weeks available)
- Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM); 4x12s available
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1680 – $1730
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Charting System: EPIC (EPIC experience required)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block
- Holiday Requirement: At least one holiday per 13-week contract
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active RN license (Virginia or Compact State); pending license accepted for non-compact single-state license holders
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
- EPIC charting experience required
- Proficient in rapid response/code team procedures
- Skilled in peripheral line care, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, and isolation precautions
- Charge nurse and precepting experience preferred
- COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality patient care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations on a busy Medical/Surgical/Orthopedic unit
- Manage a 1:6 patient ratio (may flex up to 1:7)
- Care for patients undergoing orthopedic surgeries (hip, knee, shoulder, ankle, spine), fracture repairs, bone and other infections, and general surgeries (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, colon, thyroid, hysterectomy, mastectomy, prostatectomy with CBI, etc.)
- Support patients with acute renal failure/dialysis and diabetes management
- Respond to rapid response and code team activations
- Float to other hospital units within your clinical skillset as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, and social services
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation using EPIC
- Complete orientation and required training modules
