CVOR Surgical First Assistant Job Details
- Assignment Type: Travel Contract – CVOR Surgical First Assistant
- Location: Kalamazoo, MI 49007 (Michigan healthcare jobs)
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2500 - $2560
- Start Date: January 12, 2026
- End Date: April 13, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day shift; 4x10-hour (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM) or 5x8-hour (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
- Hours per Week: 40 guaranteed
- Call Requirement: 12-18 days/month
- Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekends per month
- Unit: 20-5700 Surgery (CVOR focus)
- Orientation: 8 hours (includes annual modules)
Qualifications for CVOR Surgical First Assistant Jobs
- Active Michigan surgical technologist or nursing license (required for Michigan healthcare jobs)
- Minimum 1 year of recent CVOR experience (5 years preferred)
- Proficient in endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH)
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Accepts STFA (Surgical Technologist First Assistant) or RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assistant) credentials
- Professional references required
- Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions considered)
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Previous travel healthcare experience strongly preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons in cardiac and vascular operating room procedures, including endoscopic vein harvesting
- Provide First Assist support for orthopedic, vascular, gynecological, thoracic, and general surgeries
- Participate in call rotation and scheduled weekend shifts
- Float to general surgery First Assist coverage as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (phlebotomy, radiology, pharmacy, transportation)
- Utilize advanced surgical technology, including XI robots and endovascular suites
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold patient safety standards
