PCU Nursing Job Details
- Location: Dallas, TX 75243 (North Dallas – vibrant healthcare community with excellent restaurants, shopping, and parks)
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Start Date: December 16, 2025
- End Date: March 17, 2026
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Heart Building/Pavilion I, 3S/PCU Floor
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour night shifts)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit Size: 24 beds
- Patient Ratio: 1:3
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- Dress Code: Royal Blue Scrubs
- EMR: Meditech
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1360 - $1460
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or compact state
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of recent PCU, step-down, or acute care RN experience
- Proficiency with cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Cardene, Cardizem)
- Strong accountability and effective communication skills
- Ability to float to Med-Surg, Telemetry, and Orthopedic units as needed
- Experience with Meditech EMR preferred
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to PCU patients, including those recovering from cardiac and vascular surgeries
- Monitor and manage cardiac drips and telemetry equipment
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes
- Assist with bedside procedures such as paracentesis, thoracentesis, and PICC insertions
- Care for patients post-CABG, AVR/MVR, aortic root repairs, LVAD, immediate post-VATS (chest tubes), and post-vascular surgeries
- Support patients pre- and post-cath lab and electrophysiology (EP) procedures (pacemaker/AICD, heart caths, PCIs, TAVR)
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with unit policies and healthcare guidelines
- Demonstrate teamwork, adaptability, and a caring attitude in a fast-paced clinical environment
