Travel Nurse Job Details

  • Location: Winston Salem, NC 27103 (North Carolina nursing jobs)
  • Unit: 5 General Orthopedics – Med/Surg Telemetry
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: January 5, 2026 – End: April 6, 2026)
  • Shift: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15)
  • Hours per Week: 36 or 48 hours (option for 48 hours; overtime after 48)
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1660–$1700
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Float Requirement: Yes, to other Med/Surg units as needed
  • Block Scheduling: Available (F/S/S or S/S/M)
  • Orientation: 8 hours

Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience, including orthopedic nursing
  • Active North Carolina or Compact Registered Nurse license (must be in hand at start)
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and NIHSS certifications required
  • IV start and telemetry monitoring skills required
  • First-time travel nurses accepted with EPIC experience
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
  • Preferred: ACLS, Charge Nurse experience, Level I Trauma experience

RN Job Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical adult patients
  • Manage a patient ratio of 5–6:1 (may flex up to 7:1 in rare cases)
  • Initiate and maintain IVs, administer medications, and monitor telemetry
  • Deliver pain management for post-surgical and orthopedic patients
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services
  • Float to other Med/Surg units as needed to support patient care
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC electronic health records
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills

Important: No holiday RTO can be approved. Must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment overlaps. Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved (non-holiday). Orientation is required during the first week—no RTO allowed during this time.
