Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Job Details

• Location: Altoona, Pennsylvania (Zip: 16601) – Pennsylvania healthcare jobs
• Facility: Stroke-Certified Emergency Department
• Assignment Type: Locum Tenens (Travel/Contract Physician Assistant job)
• Start Date: March 2, 2026
• End Date: June 1, 2026 (potential for ongoing need)
• Shift Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (7a-7p, 12p-12a, 7p-7a)
• Shifts per Month: 6-12 shifts required
• Hours per Week: Approximately 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $3670 - $3930

Physician Assistant Qualifications

• Active Physician Assistant license in Pennsylvania
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department experience (emergency medicine jobs preferred)
• Willingness and ability to work night shifts as part of rotation
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS (AHA or Red Cross)
• Stroke Certification and current NIHSS (annual renewal required)
• Annual completion of Stroke CME and EMTALA education (provided by facility)
• Must be local to Altoona, PA or able to drive in for shifts
• ATLS not required
• Only Physician Assistants will be considered (no Nurse Practitioners)

Emergency Medicine PA Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care to a diverse emergency department population, focusing on lower acuity cases
• Perform patient assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans
• Review radiology and blood work, and complete administrative tasks as needed
• Assist with triage and technical responsibilities in the emergency department
• Maintain compliance with facility and regulatory requirements, including annual CME and certifications
