Med/Surg Telemetry RN Job Details
- Location: Brownwood, Texas 76801 (Texas nursing jobs)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 1/5/2026 – End: 4/6/2026)
- Setting: Med/Surg Telemetry Unit (Telemetry Med/Surg RN – 4 West)
- Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 – 19:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1630-$1750
- Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
- Unit Size: 38 beds, daily census ~35
- Weekend Coverage: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Sat/Sun)
- Orientation: 12 hours plus 6-8 hours of modules (completed during orientation)
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (must be in hand at submission)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (American Heart Association preferred)
- Experience with electronic health record/charting systems (Altera preferred)
- Ability to manage a patient ratio of 5-6
- Must complete required labs within 72 hours of offer acceptance
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered); COVID-19 vaccine not required
- Must pass facility drug screen upon arrival (includes Marijuana; positive result is automatic cancellation)
- Local candidates within 150 miles not accepted (travel nursing jobs only)
Med/Surg Telemetry RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to Med/Surg Telemetry patients, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, manage dysrhythmias, and respond to changes in patient condition
- Administer blood products, cardiac drips (no titration), and vasoactive drips (no titration)
- Perform central line care, PICC line management, and peripheral line care
- Manage feeding tubes, chest tubes, oxygen therapy, and non-invasive airway management
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and manage IV insulin protocols
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, radiology, and social services
- Participate in rapid response/code teams as needed
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Float to similar nursing units as required
