Medical/Surgical RN Job Details
- Location: Martinsburg, WV 25401 (West Virginia travel nursing opportunity)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1930-$2070
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 12/22/2025 – End: 3/23/2026)
- Healthcare Setting: Acute Care – Medical/Surgical, 5th Floor (35-42 beds)
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM), 3 shifts per week
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend; holidays as needed
- Charting System: Epic EMR
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; willing to obtain West Virginia RN licensure if needed
- Minimum 1 year of recent Medical/Surgical nursing experience required
- BLS certification (AHA required); ACLS preferred
- COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Proficient in basic arrhythmia recognition and ability to identify fatal rhythms
- Ability to float to other Med/Surg units as needed (excluding Emergency Department and Behavioral Health)
- Professional appearance: Navy blue scrubs, natural hair color, and covered tattoos if excessive or distasteful
- Driver’s license address must be outside 50 miles from the facility (travel nurse requirement)
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to a diverse Medical/Surgical patient population
- Manage patient assignments with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Monitor and respond to basic arrhythmias; escalate care for fatal rhythms as needed
- Administer IV medications (Heparin, Protonix) and manage non-titrating drips
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including hospitalists, respiratory therapists, pharmacy, and patient care technicians
- Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR
- Participate in unit orientation (1-2 shifts with a preceptor)
- Float to other Medical/Surgical units as required
- Comply with hospital policies and maintain a safe, patient-centered clinical environment
