Charleston, WV Nursing Job Details

• Location: Charleston, WV 25304 (West Virginia nursing jobs)
• Unit: 4 West - Medical Telemetry Unit (39 beds)
• Assignment Type: Travel RN contract
• Start Date: December 29, 2025
• End Date: March 30, 2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night shift, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36 hours guaranteed
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680-$1730
• Schedule: Weekdays and every other weekend; floating to similar units as needed
• Orientation: 16 hours (held every other Thursday)
• Scrub Color: Royal Blue/White (RN)
• Charting System: Cerner EMR
• Parking: Free for travel nurses

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a hospital setting
• At least 1 year of recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
• Active West Virginia or Compact RN License (pending license accepted)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
• Experience with post-cardiac cath, post-angiogram, and PTCA procedures
• Proficiency in administering and monitoring cardiac drips: heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, nitroglycerin
• Ability to interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
• Willingness to float to similar medical-surgical units
• Must reside at least 100 miles from facility (75-99 miles considered case-by-case)
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (medical exemptions accepted)
• Strong teamwork and positive attitude

Med/Surg Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a busy Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Monitor, interpret, and document cardiac rhythms; administer cardiac drips and respond to acute changes in patient condition
• Care for patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI), unstable angina, congestive heart failure (CHF), arrhythmias, cerebrovascular accident (CVA), and post-surgical needs
• Manage inpatient and observation patients with high turnover
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV therapy, physical therapy (PT), respiratory therapy (RT), pharmacy, and rapid response
• Float to similar units as needed to support patient care
• Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner electronic medical records (EMR)
• Participate in ongoing nursing education and orientation modules
