PICU RN Job Details
- Location: Boise, Idaho (83712) – Idaho healthcare jobs
- Facility Setting: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Acute Care
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: January 12, 2026
- End Date: April 13, 2026
- Shifts: 12-hour night shifts (7:00pm – 7:00am), weekends as needed
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Floating: Required to float to Pediatrics, NICU, and sitter assignments as needed
PICU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Idaho or compact state
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent PICU nursing experience
- Proficient in EVD and trach/ventilator management
- Experience with Epic EMR and Alaris infusion systems preferred
- Ability to titrate critical drips (propofol, fentanyl, epinephrine, etc.)
- Willingness to float to Pediatrics, NICU, and sitter roles as needed
- First-time travel nurses welcome
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the Boise facility
PICU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to pediatric patients in the PICU
- Manage patients with trach/vent, DKA, respiratory, and post-surgical needs (tracheostomies, g-tubes, shunts, hernia repairs, seizures)
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and strips
- Troubleshoot and manage ventilators, bubble CPAP, and BiPAP equipment
- Titrate and administer critical drips as required
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, including pediatricians and respiratory therapists
- Float to Pediatrics, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and provide sitter coverage as assigned
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic electronic medical records (EMR)
- Adhere to unit policies and dress code (any color scrubs permitted)
