PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Columbus, Ohio (43210) – Ohio nursing jobs
• Assignment Type: Travel RN Contract
• Unit: PCU Float Pool (float to stepdown/PCU units and specialty campuses as needed)
• Start Date: January 12, 2026
• End Date: April 13, 2026
• Duration: 13-week contract
• Shift: Days, 3x12-hour shifts (07:00 - 19:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratio: 1:3-4
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1940-$1990

PCU RN Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Stepdown RN experience
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – compact or Ohio state license required
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• EPIC electronic medical record experience required
• Clinical skills required: IV start, telemetry, arterial line management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care, chest tubes, external CPAP/BIPAP, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, dysrhythmia management, insulin protocols, cardiac/vasoactive drips (no titration), tracheostomy care, wound care, and more
• Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity and to other campuses as needed
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
• Two professional references required (at least one from a manager, director, or formal leader)

PCU RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in PCU and stepdown settings
• Float between units and campuses to meet patient care needs
• Initiate and manage IVs, monitor telemetry, and deliver advanced cardiac and respiratory support
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC EMR
• Participate in procedural sedation, wound care, and post-surgical management
• Respond to rapid response and code situations as part of the clinical care team
• Maintain infection control and isolation precautions in all clinical settings
