Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification – American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification – American Heart Association
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Deliver patient-centered care in the Med/Surg unit, following nursing best practices and hospital protocols
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Implement and modify patient care plans based on ongoing evaluation and patient needs
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation of all nursing care provided
- Ensure patient and staff safety by identifying and addressing hazards
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Participate in hourly rounding, bedside shift reports, and utilize whiteboards for enhanced communication
- Collaborate with critical care teams for ICU lite patients and hospitalists for advanced care cases
- Engage in ongoing professional development and meet all departmental competencies
