RN Job Details – Hastings, NE

• Location: Hastings, NE 68901 (Nebraska nursing jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: Acute Care – Medical/Surgical Unit (30 private beds, average census 20)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 12/22/2025 – End: 3/23/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours: 36 hours per week (guaranteed)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680–$1800
• Scheduling: Block scheduling available; every 3rd weekend and holiday required
• Charting System: Epic EMR
• Dress Code: Any solid color scrubs (no patterns/designs)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (Nebraska or compact state) – required for Nebraska healthcare jobs
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• NIHSS certification
• Experience with chest tubes, pain management, TPN, CBI, and wound care preferred
• Ability to float to PCU for Med/Surg overflow or low acuity PCU patients
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

RN Responsibilities – Med/Surg Unit

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to a diverse Med/Surg patient population (including dementia, post-surgical, falls, influenza, pneumonia, cancer, COVID-19, and more)
• Manage a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–6
• Collaborate with nurse aides, respiratory therapists, and monitor techs to provide comprehensive clinical support
• Participate in unit orientation (2 days department, 1 day on the floor)
• Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR
• Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling, including weekends and holidays as needed
• Float to PCU as required for Med/Surg overflow
• Uphold infection control and patient safety standards in all nursing duties
