Radiology Technologist Job Details

• Assignment Length: 12 weeks
• Location: Portsmouth, VA 23707 (Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Facility Setting: On-Site, Hospital-Based
• Shift Duration: 12 Hour Days
• Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday (includes call and holiday rotations)
• Estimated Weekly Hours: 36–40
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1730–$1860
• Start Date: December 15, 2025

Radiology Technologist Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Radiology Technologist (Rad Tech) in a clinical or hospital setting
• OR and C-Arm experience required
• Fluoroscopy experience and ability to work independently
• Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) (required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association (required)
• Associate’s degree from an ARRT-accredited program (preferred)
• Experience with GE imaging equipment and Epic EHR/PACS (preferred)
• Previous travel healthcare experience preferred
• Ability to provide clinical support for diverse patient populations (neonates through geriatrics)
• Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and communication skills

Radiology Technologist Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient clinical history and lab results for use by licensed healthcare practitioners
• Position and immobilize patients to optimize radiographic imaging while ensuring patient comfort and safety
• Apply radiation protection principles to minimize exposure for patients, self, and staff
• Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures using advanced imaging equipment and accessories
• Verify informed consent and complete all pre- and post-procedure documentation
• Assist physicians and practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized radiology procedures, utilizing aseptic techniques
• Evaluate images for technical quality and accurately document patient dose exposures
• Collaborate professionally with physicians, technologists, hospital staff, patients, and families
• Operate radiographic equipment in compliance with ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and procedural protocols
