Med/Surg Tele RN Job Details
- Location: Brownwood, Texas 76801
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1630 - $1750
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 1/19/2026 – End: 4/20/2026)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00 – 07:00), 3 shifts per week
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: Med-Tele 4 West – Telemetry Med/Surg
- Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
- Patient Ratio: 5-6 patients per nurse
- Weekend Coverage: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- Orientation: 12 hours plus 6-8 hours of online modules
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Texas or compact state, must be in hand at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Proficiency with electronic charting systems (Altera preferred, not required)
- Ability to manage a patient ratio of 5-6 in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Must complete facility drug screening upon arrival (including marijuana)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Availability to complete required labs within 72 hours of offer acceptance
Med/Surg Telemetry RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to Med/Surg Telemetry patients across adolescent, adult, and geriatric groups
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, responding promptly to changes in patient condition
- Administer medications, manage IVs, and perform blood product administration
- Care for central lines, PICC lines, chest tubes, and feeding tubes
- Implement and monitor protocols for heparin, insulin, and cardiac drips (no titration required)
- Interpret arterial blood gases and cardiac dysrhythmias
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Pharmacy
- Participate in rapid response and code teams as needed
- Accurately document patient care in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Educate and support patients and their families throughout the care process
