- Location: Richmond, VA 23219 (Virginia nursing jobs)
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
- Unit: Level IV NICU (Single-Family Room, 40 beds)
- Start Date: January 5, 2026
- End Date: April 6, 2026
- Duration: 13-week contract
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (19:00 - 07:00), 3 shifts/week
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Coverage: Required
- Orientation: 36 hours (includes modules)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1820 - $1950
NICU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent NICU RN experience (Level III or Level IV NICU preferred)
- Previous travel nurse experience required
- Active RN license in Virginia or compact state (must be current at time of application)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required
- EPIC electronic medical record experience required
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) preferred
- Ability to float within scope as needed
- Two recent professional references required
NICU RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, family-centered neonatal care in a Level IV NICU setting
- Administer medications, blood products, and manage advanced equipment (ventilators, CPAP, central lines)
- Assist with specialized neonatal procedures (lumbar puncture, conscious sedation, post-surgical care)
- Monitor and interpret vital signs, lab results, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
- Support breastfeeding and developmental care initiatives for newborns
- Educate and support families throughout their NICU journey
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social work, and more)
- Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC charting system
- Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and hospital policies
