Medical/Surgical RN Job Details

• Location: Kearney, NE 68845 (Nebraska healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 12/6/2025 – End: 3/7/2026)
• Setting: Acute Care, Medical-Surgical Unit (23 beds)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (18:00–06:30), every other weekend, first to float, required overtime (2 additional shifts per 6 weeks), and holidays
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1880 - $2020
• Charting System: EPIC
• Patient Ratios: 1:6 max (1:5 on weekday dayshifts)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (Registered Nurse)
• Minimum 1 year recent Medical/Surgical nursing experience
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Ability to float to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) for Med/Surg assignments (unless telemetry trained)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to work every other weekend and holidays (maximum one holiday off per contract)

Medical/Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to patients in the Medical/Surgical unit
• Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and progress
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans
• Float to PCU as needed for Medical/Surgical assignments
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC electronic health records
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives
