Springfield, Illinois Nursing Job Details
- Location: Springfield, IL 62781 – Illinois healthcare jobs
- Facility: Acute Care Hospital, 38-bed Orthopedic Unit
- Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract (Start: 1/12/2026 – End: 4/13/2026)
- Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts (18:45 – 06:45), 3-4 shifts/week
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
- Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
- Scrub Color: Any solid color
- Charting System: Cerner EMR
- Parking: Free with permit
- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1800-$1930
Orthopedic RN Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license (required for Illinois nursing jobs)
- Minimum 2 years of recent orthopedic or medical-surgical RN experience
- BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross)
- ACLS certification preferred
- Telemetry experience preferred
- Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC line management, and starting IVs
- Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
- Previous travel nurse experience preferred
- Willingness to float to other Med Surg departments
Orthopedic Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries (joint replacements, spine surgeries, trauma interventions)
- Perform complex dressing changes, traction, and bedside debridement
- Administer long-term IV antibiotics and manage PICC lines
- Utilize orthopedic equipment (slings, walkers, traction devices, casts, IV pumps)
- Monitor and document patient progress using Cerner EMR
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams for optimal patient outcomes
- Float to other medical-surgical units as needed
- Provide compassionate support and education to patients and families
