Springfield, Illinois Nursing Job Details

• Location: Springfield, IL 62781 – Illinois healthcare jobs
• Facility: Acute Care Hospital, 38-bed Orthopedic Unit
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract (Start: 1/12/2026 – End: 4/13/2026)
• Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts (18:45 – 06:45), 3-4 shifts/week
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
• Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
• Scrub Color: Any solid color
• Charting System: Cerner EMR
• Parking: Free with permit
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1800-$1930

Orthopedic RN Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (required for Illinois nursing jobs)
• Minimum 2 years of recent orthopedic or medical-surgical RN experience
• BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross)
• ACLS certification preferred
• Telemetry experience preferred
• Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
• Previous travel nurse experience preferred
• Willingness to float to other Med Surg departments

Orthopedic Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries (joint replacements, spine surgeries, trauma interventions)
• Perform complex dressing changes, traction, and bedside debridement
• Administer long-term IV antibiotics and manage PICC lines
• Utilize orthopedic equipment (slings, walkers, traction devices, casts, IV pumps)
• Monitor and document patient progress using Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams for optimal patient outcomes
• Float to other medical-surgical units as needed
• Provide compassionate support and education to patients and families
