ICU Registered Nurse Job Details
- Location: Chicago, IL 60612 – Work in the heart of Chicago, a hub for healthcare professionals and diverse patient populations.
- Contract Type: Travel Nursing – ICU RN
- Healthcare Setting: Level 1 Trauma Center
- Start Date: December 30, 2025
- End Date: March 31, 2026
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (7:00pm – 7:30am)
- Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Floating: Required to float between Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, Neuro ICU, and Medical-Surgical units as needed
- Orientation: First week on day shift
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1780 - $1910
ICU RN Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience as an ICU Registered Nurse
- Active Illinois RN license (must be in hand upon application)
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Proficiency with Cerner electronic charting system
- Ability to float between ICU and medical-surgical units; adaptable to team-based care models
- Strong compliance and documentation skills
ICU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality critical care nursing to patients in Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, and Neuro ICU settings
- Manage arterial lines, central lines, ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and cardiac dysrhythmias
- Care for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure
- Implement isolation precautions and PPE protocols according to hospital guidelines
- Document patient care accurately using Cerner EMR
- Float to various ICU and medical-surgical units as required to support patient care needs
- Participate in orientation and ongoing clinical training
