• Unit: 7WE – Cardiac, Surgical, and Respiratory Illnesses
• Patient Ratio: 1:5-6 (nights)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license in Ohio or compact state (required)
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in PCU, Stepdown, or acute care (required)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification (must obtain prior to direct patient care)
• Dysrhythmia Exam (required; study guide available)
• Experience with cardiac, surgical, and respiratory patients preferred
• Strong clinical skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team nursing environment

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments; develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications and manage IV drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone)
• Care for post-op drains, wound vacs, and manage cardiac, surgical, and respiratory illnesses
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members and advocate for patients
• Educate patients and families about care plans and treatments
• Respond to rapidly changing patient conditions with sound clinical judgment
• Practice infection control and universal precautions
• Document care and assessments accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
