Social Worker Job Details

• Job Title: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) – Behavioral Health Unit
• Location: Michigan City, Indiana 46360
• Healthcare Setting: Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit (BHU)
• Unit Size: 14 beds
• Patient Ratio: 1:10 (adult psychiatric patients)
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, flexible start times (7, 8, or 9 a.m.)
• Shifts per Week: 5 shifts per week
• Shift Length: 8-hour days
• Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,708 - $1,898
• Employment Type: Travel Social Worker Contract (13 weeks)
• On-Site Position
• Parking: On-site parking garage

Social Worker Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work (LMSW required)
• Active Indiana Social Work license
• BLS certification
• Minimum 3 years of experience in inpatient behavioral health or psychiatric social work
• Expertise in discharge planning, patient/family communication, and therapeutic group facilitation
• De-escalation training (CPI or equivalent; can be completed on-site)
• Strong documentation skills; Epic EMR experience preferred
• Professional, compassionate, and collaborative approach to clinical support
• Business casual attire required (no open-toe shoes or inappropriate casual clothes)

Social Worker Responsibilities

• Deliver social work services to adult psychiatric patients with acute depression, psychosis, or mania
• Lead and facilitate therapeutic groups, fostering a positive therapeutic environment
• Coordinate and implement discharge planning with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic EMR
• Participate in de-escalation and crisis intervention as needed
• Uphold ethical standards and maintain patient confidentiality
