• Location: Mechanicsville, Virginia 23116 (Richmond metropolitan area)
• Healthcare Setting: 24-bed surgical unit with medical-surgical and telemetry patients
• Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract
• Start Date: January 5, 2026
• End Date: April 4, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00pm – 7:00am), every other weekend and major holidays required
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratio: 1:5-6 (subject to staffing changes)
• Support Staff: Telemetry technicians and patient care techs
• Scrubs: Navy blue, white, or a combination
• Interview: No interview required
• Local Candidate Policy: Must reside outside a 50-mile radius

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license in Virginia or compact state (required)
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience (required)
• Medical-surgical and telemetry nursing experience (required)
• Proficient in lab draws
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certifications (required)
• Must pass EKG exam at orientation (study guide provided)
• Ability to work every other weekend and major holidays
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Med/Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments; develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications safely, following hospital policies and procedures
• Coordinate patient care and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and families
• Deliver bedside shift reports and follow surgeon orders, including I&O monitoring
• Care for a diverse patient population: surgical telemetry, urology, renal, amputations, podiatry, and general surgery
• Monitor patients on non-critical drips and oxygen therapy (no high flow O2)
• Advocate for patient safety and participate in quality improvement initiatives
• Support patients and families coping with illness or injury; provide education as needed
• Utilize the nursing process to deliver evidence-based care and respond to changing patient conditions
