• Duration: 13-week contract
• Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours (18:30 - 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratio: 1:5
• Setting: Adult patients, 37-bed unit
• Orientation: 24 hours (includes online modules)
• Weekend Coverage: Required (6 Fri/Sat/Sun shifts per schedule period for nights)
• Floating: Required to other units
• No On-Call Required

PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or Stepdown RN experience
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Tennessee or compact state; must be in-hand at submission)
• Certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, NIHSS
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Must live at least 100 miles from the facility
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Ability to complete compliance requirements and drug testing prior to start
• Facial hair must comply with CDC fit testing guidelines
• Accepts first-time travel nurses

PCU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients in the Progressive Care Unit
• Monitor and manage cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, and insulin drips (no titration required)
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and dysrhythmias
• Perform blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, and phlebotomy
• Care for patients with chest tubes, feeding tubes, and high-flow nasal cannula
• Utilize Epic for electronic charting and documentation
• Participate in rapid response/code teams as needed
• Float to other nursing units as required
• Support and mentor nursing students as part of the clinical team
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services
