• Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00 – 07:00), 3 shifts per week
• Hours per Week: 36
• Unit: Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 6 beds, average daily census of 4
• Patient Ratio: 1:3
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Guaranteed Hours: All contracted shifts guaranteed after 2 call-offs per 13-week assignment
• Charting System: Epic
• Scrub Color: Royal blue and white

ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU RN experience in a hospital setting
• Active Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or compact state
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency with Epic charting system
• Willingness to float between campuses and within scope as needed
• Ability to work every other weekend
• Must reside at least 50 miles from main campus (local candidates not accepted)
• Previous charge nurse and community hospital experience preferred
• Must pass advanced EKG exam for compliance

ICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients in the Intensive Care Unit
• Manage a patient ratio of up to 1:3 in a fast-paced ICU environment
• Perform and assist with procedures: arterial line management, chest tube insertion/removal, ventilator management, and wound care
• Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, IV sedation, and emergency medications
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs), dysrhythmias, and 12-lead EKGs
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, and social services
• Maintain infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions
• Float to similar units or between campuses as needed to support patient care
