Key Job Details – Neuro ICU RN
- Location: Columbus, Ohio (43210) – Ohio healthcare jobs
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 1/26/2026 – End: 4/27/2026)
- Unit: Neuro Intensive Care Unit (NCCU), 18 beds
- Shifts: Rotating Day/Night, 3x12-hour shifts/week (07:00–19:30 or 19:00–07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- On-Call: Required
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
- Patient Ratio: 1:1–2
- Floating: Required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Charting System: Epic EHR
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of recent Neuro ICU nursing experience
- Active RN license (compact or Ohio state license)
- Graduate of ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- BCLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA only)
- Proficient with Epic EHR
- Previous travel nurse experience preferred
- Two professional references (one from manager/director)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
Neuro ICU RN Responsibilities
- Provide advanced care to adult patients with ischemic/hemorrhagic strokes, subarachnoid hemorrhages, neuromuscular diseases, meningitis, and post-op neurosurgery cases
- Operate and manage neurocritical care equipment: ventilators, EVD, ICP monitoring, EEG
- Assist with bedside procedures: tracheostomy, PEG, central/arterial line placement
- Initiate and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips, manage dysrhythmias, and deliver emergency interventions
- Start and maintain IVs, manage central/PICC lines, perform phlebotomy
- Interpret telemetry, ABGs, and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, social services)
- Float to other units and participate in on-call rotation as needed
