PCU RN Job Details
- Location: Toledo, Ohio (43606) – Ohio nursing jobs
- Unit: Mixed Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Medical Surgical Telemetry, and Med Surg
- Facility: Level I Trauma Center
- Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Start Date: January 20, 2026
- End Date: April 21, 2026
- Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts/week (18:45 - 07:15)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (Friday/Saturday nights)
- Floating: Required within service line and affiliated facilities (Toledo, Flower, Bay Park, Wildwood)
- Charting System: EPIC (preferred)
- Parking: Free onsite parking
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience (PCU, Med Surg, Telemetry preferred)
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (AHA certifications required)
- Experience with EPIC electronic charting system preferred
- Ability to float to other units and affiliated hospitals as needed
- Must provide 2 professional references from the past 24 months
- COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- No local travelers within a 50-mile radius
- Fingerprinting required for select units (allow 4-6 weeks for results)
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with renal, urology, and vascular conditions
- Monitor patients using telemetry and cardiac monitoring; interpret and manage dysrhythmias
- Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line management
- Manage CAPD and CBI procedures
- Administer medications, including heparin protocols (preferred)
- Provide respiratory support (nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management)
- Document patient care using EPIC electronic health records
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, Pharmacy, Social Services)
- Float to Neuro/Stroke, Cardiac, Orthopedic, Trauma, Oncology, General Surgery, Urology/Vascular, and Observation units as needed
- Participate in orientation and annual training modules
