Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Athens, TX 75751 (East Texas nursing jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: Med/Surg Floor (36 beds)
• Assignment Type: Travel RN contract
• Start Date: January 12, 2026
• End Date: April 13, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Float Requirement: Yes
• Charting System: Epic (Epic experience preferred)

Med/Surg RN Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Registered Nurse experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Active RN license (Texas or compact state)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias, cardiac drips (no titration), and non-invasive airway management
• Peripheral line care and management skills
• Must not reside in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a busy Med/Surg floor
• Manage a patient load of 1:6, providing comprehensive assessments and interventions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Pharmacy, and Interpretation Services
• Utilize Epic for clinical documentation and charting
• Float to other hospital units as needed
• Care for patients with diagnoses such as UTI, pneumonia, respiratory failure/COPD, sepsis, AKI, chest pain, cellulitis, and AMS
• Maintain isolation precautions and adhere to infection control protocols
• Participate in orientation and complete required onsite modules
