ER RN Job Details

  • Location: Charleston, WV 25301 (West Virginia nursing jobs)
  • Facility: Level 1 Trauma Center, 24-bed Emergency Department
  • Contract Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
  • Start Date: January 8, 2026
  • Shifts: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), every other weekend required
  • Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
  • Orientation: 16 hours (every other Thursday)
  • Employment Type: Travel RN contract (W2)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year in Emergency Room/ER nursing
  • Active West Virginia or Compact RN license (pending accepted, must be active before start)
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and CPI certifications (CPI can be obtained prior to start)
  • Proficient in IV starts and telemetry monitoring
  • Experience with trauma, high-acuity, and psychiatric patient populations preferred
  • Must reside at least 100 miles from facility (75-100 miles considered case-by-case)
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (medical exemptions accepted with documentation)

ER Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency nursing care to patients of all ages, including trauma, neurological, orthopedic, psychiatric, and renal emergencies
  • Manage multiple high-acuity patients and respond to rapidly changing clinical situations
  • Perform IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and emergency interventions
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (respiratory, radiology, social services)
  • Float within nursing scope to meet facility needs
  • Document patient care accurately using Cerner charting system
  • Complete required orientation and training modules prior to start
