CVICU Travel Nurse Job Details
- Location: Baltimore, MD 21215 (Maryland healthcare jobs)
- Facility: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) within a mixed ICU
- Assignment Type: Travel RN contract
- Start Date: January 19, 2026
- End Date: April 27, 2026
- Duration: 14 weeks
- Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (7:00pm – 7:30am)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Coverage: Required
- On-Site Position
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active RN license in Maryland or Compact State (Registered Nurse license required)
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience, including at least 2 years as a staff CVICU nurse
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, CALS (or ability to obtain 16hr Maryland Approved Trauma Cert by week 27)
- Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
- Professional references required
CVICU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver expert critical care to cardiovascular patients in a mixed ICU setting
- Monitor and manage advanced equipment: ECMO, IABP, LVAD/RVAD, CVVHD/CRRT, ventilators, and more
- Administer emergency medications and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips
- Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion/removal, arterial line management, and epicardial pacing wire care
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and cardiac dysrhythmias
- Care for post-cardiac surgery patients and those with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
- Float to other ICU areas and Emergency Department as needed, providing high-quality nursing care across units
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and more
