Telemetry RN Job Details

• Location: Freeport, IL 61032 (Illinois nursing jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: Acute Care – Telemetry Unit (18 beds)
• Contract Type: Travel RN contract
• Start Date: December 20, 2025
• End Date: March 21, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00pm – 7:30am), rotating weekends and holidays
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Orientation: 2 shifts (12 hours each)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (required for submission)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Telemetry RN experience (2+ years preferred; post-cath lab and stroke care experience highly valued)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Phlebotomy skills are a plus
• Experience with cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine; titrate: Heparin)
• Familiarity with Meditech charting system preferred
• Ability to float to ICU, Med/Surg, and ER as needed within scope of practice
• Disclosure of all previous employment at any FHN Memorial location required

Telemetry Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to telemetry patients, including those with stroke, CHF, ACS, CAD, arrhythmias, and post-heart cath recovery
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, sign off on telemetry strips, and collaborate with monitor techs
• Administer and monitor cardiac drips as required
• Provide post-cath lab and stroke care, utilizing best practices for patient safety and recovery
• Work collaboratively with CNAs, charge nurses, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Float to other units (ICU, Med/Surg, ER) as needed within your scope of practice
• Document care accurately using the Meditech system
• Participate in department-specific orientation and ongoing nursing education
