Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Position: Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN)
• Location: Lynchburg, Virginia 24501
• Healthcare Setting: Intermediate Care (CIMU) – Cardiac Stepdown Unit
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Hours per Week: 36
• Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Contract
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 1/26/2026 – End: 4/27/2026)
• Start Dates: Every other Monday (next available: 1/26/2026)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in cardiac stepdown or intermediate care nursing
• Prior travel nurse experience required
• Active Virginia or Compact RN License (valid upon start)
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (current)
• Complete work history with explanations for gaps over 90 days
• Skills Checklist and copy of Nursys/license required at submission
• Submit all requested time off with application
• Cerner EMR experience preferred

Cardiac Stepdown Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients of varying acuity
• Operate and manage clinical equipment: vital signs machines, glucometers, SCDs, bladder scanners, vein finders, remote telemetry, wound vacs, IV pumps, pulse oximeters, chest tubes, tube feeding pumps, oxygen delivery devices
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams in a teaching hospital setting
• Support students and new hires; float to other nursing units as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records (EMR)
• Promote a culture of learning and support within the cardiac stepdown unit
