Travel Nurse Job Details

• Location: Columbus, OH 43210 (Ohio nursing jobs)
• Contract Length: 13-16 weeks
• Start Date: January 26, 2026
• End Date: May 18, 2026
• Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts (Day: 07:00-19:30, Night: 19:00-07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Healthcare Setting: Corrections Health Unit (locked, secure environment)
• Patient Population: Oncology and non-oncology patients with complex medical and surgical needs

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (compact or Ohio state license required)
• At least 1 year of recent PCU or Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Ability to float between Oncology, Medical-Surgical, and PCU units
• Two professional references required (one from a manager/director or formal leader)
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care in a secure corrections health unit, ensuring safety for staff and patients
• Float between PCU and Medical-Surgical units, caring for patients with oncology diagnoses and complex medical conditions
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret dysrhythmias, and respond to emergencies
• Administer medications (cardiac drips, insulin protocols, blood products), manage IVs, central lines, and PICC lines
• Provide respiratory support (CPAP/BIPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care, ABG interpretation)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including pharmacy, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology, and rapid response teams
• Utilize EPIC for clinical documentation and Pyxis for medication management
• Maintain compliance with facility policies, including fingerprinting and credentialing requirements
