PCU Nursing Job Details

• Location: Columbus, Ohio (43210) – Ohio healthcare jobs
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Healthcare Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU), 31-bed med-surg unit
• Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Shifts per Week: 3 (36 hours/week)
• Start Date: January 26, 2026
• End Date: April 27, 2026
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care or Med-Surg nursing experience
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – compact or Ohio state license
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• IV certification and proficiency in IV starts
• Experience with EPIC EMR system
• Previous travel nursing and charge nurse experience preferred
• Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
• Two professional references (one from a manager/director or formal leader)

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to adult patients in a Progressive Care Unit
• Perform and manage CPAP/BiPAP, medication titrations, and charge nurse duties during night shifts
• Initiate IVs, administer medications, monitor patient status, and provide patient education
• Utilize EPIC EMR for documentation and patient care management
• Care for patients with diagnoses such as bacteremia, CKD, COPD exacerbation, anemia, GI bleeds, and more
• Manage equipment including NG/Dobhoff tubes, Kangaroo pumps, wound vacs, and chest tubes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services
• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, including floating to other units as needed
