PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Columbus, Ohio 43210 (Ohio nursing jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: January 26, 2026 – End: April 27, 2026)
• Healthcare Setting: 31-bed Medical-Surgical Progressive Care Unit (9 West Rhodes, Medical)
• Shift: Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours: 36 hours per week (3 shifts/week)
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Type: Travel RN, On-Site

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a PCU Registered Nurse or in a similar clinical setting
• Active and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license (compact or Ohio state license required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
• IV certification and demonstrated proficiency in IV starts
• Experience with EPIC EMR system
• Previous travel nursing and charge nurse experience preferred
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Ability to provide two professional references (one from a manager/director or formal leader)
• Flexibility to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to adult patients in a progressive care unit
• Perform and manage CPAP/BiPAP, medication titrations, and serve as a charge-capable night shift traveler
• Initiate IVs, administer medications, monitor labs, and provide patient education
• Utilize EPIC EMR for documentation and patient care management
• Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling, including working every other weekend
• Float to other units within the hospital as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services
• Care for patients with diagnoses such as CKD, COPD exacerbation, anemia, falls, and more
• Operate and manage special equipment including NG/Dobhoff tubes, Kangaroo pumps, wound vacs, and chest tubes
