PCU Nursing Job Details

• Location: Columbus, Ohio (43210) – Central Ohio healthcare jobs
• Unit: 10 BSH Stroke Unit (Neuro/Med-Surg/Stepdown)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 1/26/2026 – End: 4/27/2026)
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Float Requirement: Willingness to float to other units within the healthcare organization
• Weekend & Holiday Coverage: Rotating weekdays, weekends, and holidays
• Orientation: 24 hours

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or Med-Surg RN experience required
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – compact or Ohio state license
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• BLS certification required
• EPIC charting experience required
• NIHSS and ACLS certifications preferred
• Strong neuro stepdown and med-surg nursing skills
• Ability to provide two professional references (one from a supervisor or manager)
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients in a busy stroke and neuro stepdown unit
• Manage a 1:4 patient ratio, including stroke, med-surg, and neurological diagnosis patients
• Perform specialized procedures: TNK administration, lumbar drains, post-neurosurgery care
• Utilize advanced clinical skills: cardiac telemetry, central and peripheral line care, wound care, phlebotomy, titration of cardiac drips
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, intracranial bleeds, and traumatic brain injuries
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams
• Float to other units within the healthcare organization as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC electronic health records
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
