Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Petersburg, VA 23805 (Richmond area)
• Assignment Type: Travel RN
• Unit: Med/Surg Telemetry (MS/Tele, 4E)
• Duration: 13-week contract (Start: 1/5/2026 – End: 4/4/2026)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts; every other weekend and major holidays required
• Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
• Unit Details: 30-bed mixed MS/Tele units; float to other Med/Surg Telemetry units as needed

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care RN experience
• At least 1 year of travel nursing experience
• Dysrhythmia exam (study guide provided)
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (proof of address required)
• Ability to float to other Med/Surg Telemetry units
• Preferred: CAPD experience, ACLS, CCRN, PCCN, NIH Stroke Certification, EPIC EHR experience

RN Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes
• Safely administer medications according to hospital policies
• Coordinate patient care and communicate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and families
• Advocate for patient safety and participate in clinical quality improvement initiatives
• Manage care for patients with multi-system organ failure, trauma, and complex medical conditions
• Float to other Med/Surg Telemetry units as required
• Utilize Alaris pumps, Hercules beds, BiPAP, CPAP, tracheostomy care, chest tubes, tube feeds/Kangaroo pumps
• Perform phlebotomy and provide pre/post hemodialysis care
• Maintain professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and effective communication at all times
