- Unit: A5 South Neuro Trauma Surgical PCU
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
- Start Date: January 12, 2026
- End Date: April 13, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 3 shifts/week (36 hours/week)
- Patient Ratio: 1:3-4 (occasionally 1:5 during emergencies)
- Bed Count: 24
- Orientation: Comprehensive orientation provided
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Indiana or compact state
- Minimum 2 years recent PCU/Stepdown nursing experience
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Strong neuro nursing skills and drip management experience
- Previous charge nurse experience
- Ability to float to Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU units
- Flexible with weekend scheduling (50% of weekends)
- Graduate of ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Two supervisor references required
- First-time travel nurses welcome
- Local candidates not accepted
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric neuro trauma patients (CVAs, hydrocephalus, brain tumors, TBIs, post-surgical cases)
- Monitor and manage telemetry, IV drips, arterial lines, central lines, and ventilated patients
- Administer blood products, manage feeding tubes, wound care, and wound vacs
- Interpret cardiac dysrhythmias and respond to changes in patient condition
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop patient care plans
- Participate in charge nurse training and precepting nursing students
- Float to other hospital units or affiliate hospitals as needed
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
