• Unit: Advanced Heart Care Unit (A5East)
• Contract Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: January 26, 2026
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Facility Type: Level I Trauma, Teaching Hospital
• Staffing Ratio: 1:4
• Weekend Coverage: Flexible; 50% of weekends required

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience (Trauma Level I required)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Indiana or compact state)
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
• Proficiency in cardiac PCU, managing drips, post cath lab care, IV starts, and sheath pulls
• Ability to float to Med-Surg, ICU, and other clinical units as needed
• Experience precepting or mentoring nursing students
• Familiarity with Cerner charting system preferred
• Two supervisor references required

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients with cardiovascular conditions (CHF, post-MI, pulmonary hypertension, arrhythmias, COPD, congenital heart defects, infective endocarditis)
• Monitor patients post-cath lab, pre/post cardiac surgery, and prior to LVAD or heart/lung transplant
• Start and maintain IVs, manage cardiac drips, perform sheath removal, and administer conscious sedation
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and cardiac telemetry
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response)
• Float to other hospital units or affiliate hospitals as required
• Participate in charge nurse duties and coverage (training provided)
• Maintain flexibility for weekend and holiday scheduling
• Support teaching hospital initiatives by precepting and mentoring students
