Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Indianapolis, IN 46202 – Premier destination for Indiana nursing jobs with access to urban amenities, parks, and entertainment.
• Unit: 6N-Advanced Pulmonary (32 beds: 15 PCU, 17 MedSurg)
• Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract
• Start Date: January 12, 2026
• End Date: April 13, 2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (19:00 – 07:30), 3 shifts per week
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required; flexibility for consecutive weekends based on operational needs

PCU Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Indiana or compact state (must be in hand prior to start date)
• Minimum 18 months of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience (2 years preferred)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Travel nursing experience required
• Ability to float between units and affiliate hospitals as needed
• Charge nurse experience or willingness to train as charge nurse
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions accepted for flu)
• 2 supervisor references required

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with cardiac, pulmonary, and neurodegenerative conditions
• Monitor and manage advanced pulmonary patients, including trach-to-vent and ventilated cases
• Administer medications, manage IVs, and perform phlebotomy
• Interpret cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias; manage cardiac drips (no titration)
• Provide care for patients with feeding tubes, central lines, arterial lines, and PICC lines
• Implement isolation precautions and infection control protocols
• Participate in floating rotation across MedSurg, PCU, and ICU units
• Serve as a preceptor or mentor to students and new staff
• Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner (preferred)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
