CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Job, 12-Hour Night Shifts – Louisville, KY

CVICU Registered Nurse Job Details

Location: Louisville, KY 40202 (Downtown – near top dining, entertainment, and riverfront attractions)
Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), 5th Floor, Rudd Heart Hospital
Assignment Type: Travel RN Contract
Start Date: January 19, 2026
End Date: April 20, 2026
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
On-Site Position
Scrubs: Surgical scrubs provided by facility

CVICU RN Qualifications

Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license
Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU nursing experience
Experience in open heart recovery within 24 hours post-surgery
Hemodynamic monitoring experience (Swan-Ganz catheter)
Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
Ability to float to PTCA (CVICU patients only) or other ICU units as needed
Preferred: Experience with ECMO, CRRT, IABPs, Impella, VAD, and heart/lung transplant
Strong work ethic and positive, team-oriented attitude

Registered Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to cardiac patients in a 17-bed CVICU
Manage patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity
Operate advanced clinical equipment: CRRT (Prismax), IABP, IMPELLA, ECMO, VADs
Monitor and interpret hemodynamic data (Swan-Ganz catheter)
Provide open heart recovery care within the first 24 hours post-surgery
Document care and interventions using Cerner EMR
Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams for optimal patient outcomes
Float to other ICU units as required
