ICU RN Job Details – Portland, ME

  • Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse, On-Site
  • Location: Portland, Maine 04102
  • Start Date: February 1, 2026
  • End Date: May 2, 2026
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks
  • Nursing Shift: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Hours per Week: 36-48 (Weekly guaranteed hours: 48)
  • Weekend Requirement: 75% weekends required
  • Unit: Float Pool (MICU, SICU, Neuro ICU, Cardiac ICU, CTICU, IMC)
  • Electronic Medical Record: EPIC EMR

ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Active RN license (Registered Nurse)
  • Minimum 3 years of ICU nursing experience in an acute care hospital
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting telemetry independently
  • Ability to float to multiple ICU and IMC departments as needed
  • Strong communication skills and dedication to patient care
  • Adaptability and flexibility for different assignments and units
  • Professional attire required (no open-toed shoes, jeans, or clothing with large logos/profanity)

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to ICU and IMC patients, including those sedated, intubated, or on pressors
  • Float between critical care units (MICU, SICU, Neuro ICU, Cardiac ICU, CTICU, IMC) based on experience and hospital needs
  • Manage patient ratios of 1:2 in ICU and 1:3 in IMC settings
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve excellent patient outcomes
  • Document care and interventions accurately using EPIC EMR
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare environment
