NICU RN Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Level III NICU nursing experience
  • Previous travel nurse experience required
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Texas or compact state)
  • Certifications: BLS, NRP, STABLE (PALS preferred)
  • Experience with Cerner EMR charting system preferred
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Proof of flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
  • Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible

NICU Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, compassionate neonatal care in a Level III NICU
  • Administer medications, blood products, and advanced neonatal therapies (ventilators, CPAP, HFNC, nitric oxide)
  • Attend high-risk deliveries; perform neonatal resuscitation and stabilization
  • Assist with specialized procedures: APGAR scoring, arterial line management, lumbar puncture, central line care
  • Monitor and document patient status using Cerner EMR
  • Educate and support families on neonatal care, breastfeeding, and discharge planning
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team: respiratory therapists, social workers, physicians
  • Maintain strict infection control and isolation protocols
