Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Oregon RN license (required upon submission)
• Healthcare Provider BLS certification (required)
• Certification as a Diabetes Educator (CDE or CDCES) preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred
• Prior teaching experience preferred
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience as an RN or RD (3 years with diabetes care or chronic disease management preferred)

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Perform initial and annual diabetes foot assessments, including patient history and medication review
• Examine foot structure, circulation, skin, and nails; document findings in electronic health records
• Provide routine foot care: nail trimming, filing, reduction of thick nails, calluses, corns, and ingrown nails
• Inspect patient footwear for safety and proper fit
• Refer patients to medical providers as needed for advanced diabetes care
• Educate patients on diabetes foot care, prevention strategies, and available healthcare resources
• Maintain accurate documentation and support clinical compliance
