- Location: Burlington, VT 05401 (Vermont healthcare jobs)
- Unit: Miller 3 – Cardiac Progressive Care Stepdown (Telemetry/Surgical Focus)
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
- Start Date: January 12, 2026
- End Date: August 23, 2026
- Duration: 32 weeks
- Hours per Week: 36
- Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts (Day/Night)
- Employment Type: W2
- On-Site Position
- Pay Rates: Travel Rate: $100/hr; Radius Rate: $95/hr (51-100 miles); Local Rate: $90/hr (50 miles or less)
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, including at least 1 year in a cardiac stepdown or progressive care unit
- Active and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license (Vermont RN license preferred for local candidates)
- AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required (NIHSS must be obtained prior to start)
- PCCN certification preferred
- Recent experience in a large Level 1 trauma healthcare facility
- Epic EMR proficiency within the past 2 years
- Cardiothoracic and vascular nursing experience required
- Post-op Day 1 open/closed heart patient care experience
- Willingness to float to similar clinical units as needed
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle required (no public transportation available)
- Vehicles must have all-season or snow tires from November to April
- Ability to work 2 out of 4 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Day
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown and progressive care patients, including telemetry and post-surgical cases
- Monitor and assess patients recovering from cardiothoracic and vascular procedures
- Administer medications, manage IVs, and perform cardiac monitoring
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans
- Accurately document patient care using Epic EMR
- Float to similar units to support patient care as needed
- Participate in bi-weekly orientation and ongoing professional development
- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies and procedures
